![]() I found two commands that help with this - r2_sun_lumscale_amb (default 0.25) and r2_sun_lumscale_hemi (default 0.75). Played around for a bit with Anomaly, some quick thoughts: It’s based on Call of Misery - more details in the vid below: In other news, Dead Air seems to be the next big thing in the STALKER modding community. Ghillie suit also got buffed big time and now looks like a good option for general exploration, but you might have to pop some anti-rad or anti-toxic pills before going into anomalies. ![]() Not a big loss though, the 7.62 nato is great for killing mutants quickly. It also took forever before I found a 7.62x51 compatible silencer for my FN FAL Para - the reason I’m using this gun is because it can fit an underbarrel grenade launcher, unlike M4 which lost that feature in 2.2 :(. I did notice a few oddities with merchant inventories though, they seem a little more static now (maybe Wealthy Client affecting them finally got disabled), so I couldn’t pick up SEVA until I finished all the missions for scientists. AI companions also seem a little more resilient when you have to babysit them, but that might just be placebo. I’ve been replaying Misery again and it’s now better than ever - there are some new features like camping and gear dismantling, as well as some bugfixes (some stashes are easier to get), loot location changes, new dynamic enemy spawns, etc. I think the things will heat up soon though, I’m gearing up to go into Agroprom underground and looking at the map it seems like I have visited all the factions already - which means that from now on I’ll mostly be fighting mutants and Monolith.Īnyway, if someone’s pining for more STALKER but hasn’t played CS yet I really recommend it. All this lead to the bulk of my time being dedicated to exploration which is pretty fun - once I fully upgraded my starting CS3-a suit I was able to explore everything the Zone threw at me. ![]() In Misery and AMK it feels like you’re fighting all the time but here I’ve decided I’ll try and stay neutral with all the factions because it allows me to move around more or less unhindered and I get access to more traders - plus the techs have specializations so you want to get into everyone’s good graces eventually, especially if you plan on changing equipment often. What surprised me the most so far is how little action I’ve seen. The levels play a lot different compared to SoC, and they look a lot more colorful in general. Quests so far have been pretty decent (by STALKER standards, anyway) and I don’t mind that the game uses the same zones as Shadow of Chernobyl, even though I’ve played the latter again only a few days ago. I’m using a merge by some guy from reddit (link has since been pulled so I can’t provide it here, but I’ve made a backup so if someone really wishes to try it out let me know and I’ll upload it somewhere) who put together SPR, Arsenal Overhaul and a bunch of graphics enhancing mods - and all together forms a very nice package that plays more or less like the vanilla version but comes with new weapons, scope overlays, UI, etc.Īnd I have to be honest, it feels nice playing against AI that doesn’t snipe me from 200m through thick foliage. Granted that my first impression all those years ago was really bad but still, I should’ve checked on the modder’s efforts sooner. I finally got around to playing Clear Sky this weekend and now I don’t know why I’ve been avoiding it for so long.

Hiding them away not only reduces clutter but also prevents potential tripping hazards.Ĭable ties are a cost-effective way to organize the cables leading from the TV to other parts of an AV system. The "air" can have a lot of moisture in it, and you don't want to risk shorting your equipment.Ĭables are the lifeblood of any home theater or TV system, but no one likes looking at them. Buy a can of compressed air to clean these fans efficiently from the outside - don't open it up - but make sure to unplug the device first. If you have devices with cooling fans, these can collect a lot of gunk over time - cleaning them will help them run better. While manufacturers do make specialized wipes, a duster or the same lint-free cloth will also work. The next step is to remove dust around the TV and any associated equipment like an AV receiver or cable box. If you're especially short on time you could always breathe on the smudges and use the resulting condensation to polish them off. If the television has grease spots from fingerprints, use a damp but not wet cloth, or for really stubborn stains use a mild solution of soap and water - you don't need a specialized screen cleaner. Cleaning your system can not only help it look better, but many AV components will work better after a little maintenance: the most obvious being your TV screen. Home theaters are literal dust magnets with the amount of static electricity flying around - especially on TVs. I prefer this latter method as I find it gives better results, especially when it comes to setting the level of the subwoofer.įine-tuning your TV settings can make a big difference. However, if you've lost the mic you can always do it by hand, using a decibel meter app on your smartphone. Firstly you can always dig out the calibration microphone and run it through its setup process. But if you have something a little more involved, like a receiver and speakers, then there's a few more tricks available up your sleeve. If you have a soundbar with a separate subwoofer, for example, moving it a couple of inches in any direction could make it sound a lot better. Likewise, getting better sound out of your sound system can be improved with a couple of simple tweaks. If you have an Apple TV you can now use an iPhone to calibrate the color of a connected television. ![]() Vivid mode may look impressive on the shop floor but that's where that monstrosity should stay - people look orange and a lot of fine detail is lost. ![]() The first thing you should check within your TV's picture settings is that it's in Movie or Calibrated mode (if available). Whether you just got your TV out of the box or it's been sitting on your TV stand for years you can always improve its picture with a couple of quick button presses. Calibrate TV picture and audio settingsĭon't worry, you don't need to wear blue coveralls or own a scientific calculator to calibrate your system. Here are seven tasks to keep your TV and home theater equipment in good shape, ranging from simply picking up a remote control to buying yourself some new gear. Taking care of these issues is easy and doesn't need to cost much money - in fact, several of the tips are free. With the holiday travel season about to commence, there's no time like the present to get your living room (sorry, your home theater!) in tip-top shape. Maybe your TV audio has become muffled, or the picture settings aren't ideal, or your TV cables are taking over your living room. Over time, your TV and sound system might not look or sound as good as it used to. Don't throw the cables on yourself - get them organized. |
